Blackjack comes in many variations and depending on the rule set the betting options may vary. Blackjack gameplay mechanics may include, but are not limited to:
Insurance: A side-bet offered if the dealer's 'up' card is an Ace - providing insurance in case the dealer's hand is a 'blackjack' (Ace + 10 or Face card)
Double Down: Double down occurs after the first turn of play and it provides the player with an opportunity to double their initial bet based on the current strength of their hand.
Split Pair: If the two cards the player receives are the same count, they may have the option to 'split' the hand into two and receive additional cards for each hand. Splitting is a useful strategy in blackjack to put the player in an advantageous position (Aces) or to prevent a bad position (8s).
Pair Side-bets: The player makes these side bets at the blackjack table for an extra payout if the initial hand dealt results in a pair. Bets are made before hands are dealt with the odds and payout varying depending on the number of decks used and type of pairs.
Mixed pair: Cards have the same value but are different suits and colours
Coloured Pair: Cards have the same value, are different suits but share the same colour
Perfect Pair: Cards have the same value and suit. This is the most unlikely scenario with the highest payout,
3:2 Payout: Hit blackjack to get an extra payout - for every 2 units bet you receive 3 units in return. This type of Blackjack payout ensures a low house edge and high RTP for the player.
21+3 Side Bet: This popular side bet combines Blackjack with Poker in which the first two cards in the player's hand and the face-up card from the dealer match a three-card poker hand
Flush: Three cards in the same suit
Straight: Three cards of consecutive values, with Aces being either high or low
Three of a kind: Three cards of the same value or face (Any suit or colour)
Straight flush: Three cards of consecutive values that have matching suits
Suited Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same value/face card and the same suit. This is the rarest combination and can lead to major payouts.
